Featured Story

This story takes place in Ohio 1989 where a good friend and I hunted a 400-acre farm. The area was composed of hardwoods, crop rows, CRP fields, and five-year-old second growth. Big bucks would use this area for their bedding ground. The bucks generally left the crop rows, cut through the big open timber, and crossed a power line where they would ease into their bedding area well before light. For three consecutive mornings, we stood in line with the power line and listened as the bucks slipped into their beds. After analyzing the situation, we discovered that the wind was constantly blowing to their backside toward the second growth as they sneaked back into their sanctuary right at 5:45 each morning, which was about 20 minutes before it was light enough to see. We decided to wait until we heard the bucks crossing the power line, then we would slip in behind them atomizing Dominant Buck scent. In some instances you might want to rethink.
